Studio portrait of Lieutenant Harold Vernon Walklate, 14th Reinforcements, 14th Battalion, of Launceston, Tas. An accountant of Malvern, Vic, he enlisted on 1 February 1915 and embarked from Melbourne, Vic, aboard HMAT Ballarat on 18 February 1916. Later promoted to the rank of Captain, he was killed in action on 22 October 1917 in Belgium
