Webster, William Iverick
Born 1880 Hobart Tasmania the son of William Webster and married to Lily Marion Roberts, a storekeeper he embarked Adelaide 6th August 1918 on board “HMAT Gaika” with the Army Medical Corps. He was diagnosed with Tuberculosis in England and sent back to Australia per “HMAT Ulysses” and died at No 9 General Hospital Hobart on the 30th September 1919. He was buried will full honours at Cornelian Bay Cemetery. The funeral of the late Private William Iverick Webster, A.A.M.C, A.I.F., took place yesterday afternoon, and was largely attended. The cortege was preceded by a firing party with arms reversed, and the Military Band, the latter playing the "Dead March" in "Saul." The coffin was placed on a gun-carriage, and was draped with, the Union Jack. Then came a contingent of returned soldiers and a number of cabs conveying relatives and friends of the deceased. The chief mourners were deceased's wife, his two brothers, and his two sons. Lieutenant Ellis represented the State Commandant (Colonel Wanliss), and Lieutenant Geo. Foster the Returned Sailors' and Soldiers' League. The service at the graveside was read by Captain Perry of the Salvation Army, and Rev. H. A. Overend, after which the salute was fired, and "The Last Post" was sounded. There were many floral wreaths.
