Westcott, William Wynne

 

He was born 1897 Hobart Tasmania to William John and Isabel Agnes Westcott (nee Downie) a sawmiller who embarked Melbourne 27th October 1915 on board “HMAT Ulysses” with the 26th Infantry Battalion.

Lance Corporal Westcott was billeted in a barn and sleeping with others on top of a straw stack when a shell hit that end of the barn killing him 18th April 1918.  He is commemorated in the Borre British Cemetery, France.
