Wetheimer Arnold Talbot
Born Melbourne the son of Arnold and Sarah Wertheimer of “Essex House” Bellerive Tasmania, a surveyor’s assistant who first departed 20th October 1914 for Gallipoli with the 15th Battalion and returned to Australia on the “Ascanius” 4th October 1915 after suffering enteric fever. After recovery in Tasmania he worked as a recruiting sergeant before he re-embarked 22nd December 1916 on board “HMAT Persic” with the 12th Battalion and the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He was killed in action on a night patrol by enemy machine gun fire 4th June 1918 and is buried in the Outtersteene Communal Cemetery Extension, Bailleul, France
