Wheatley, Albert Victor

Born 9^th January 1892 Brighton Tasmania to Hiram Charles and Jane Wheatley (nee Paine) he embarked Melbourne 21^st October 1916 on board “HMAT Port Melbourne” with the 40^th Infantry Battalion.

On arrival in England he contracted influenza and was admitted to the Fargo Military Hospital on the 5^th February and died 11^th February 1917. He was buried in the Durrington Cemetery, United Kingdom.

His Brother Percy Alfred Wheatley (No 1104) died 5^th May 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.
