Studio portrait of 1009 Lance Corporal (L Cpl) Anthony George Herbert Williams, 12th Battalion, of Queenstown, Tas. A truck inspector prior to enlisting in September 1914, Williams embarked from Hobart on board HMAT Geelong (A2) on 20 October 1914. His unit took part in the landing at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915. On 12 May 1915 he died of wounds received in action. He was 20 years of age.
