Williams, Charles Henry Ernest

 

Born 11th August 1885 Ringarooma Tasmania to Andrew James and Sarah Jane Williams (nee Tucker) and married to Maude Kezia Grace Maine, a miner he embarked Melbourne 22nd December 1914 on board “HMAT Ceramic” with the 15th Infantry Battalion.

He was killed in action 2nd May 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and buried Popes Hill Cemetery and later reinterred in Quinn's Post Cemetery, Gallipoli, Turkey. 

His brother in law Corporal Clarence William Maine (No 1072) also died 27th May 1915 from wounds received at Gallipoli and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.
