Bernard Francis WILSON - private #3644

 

Born 6th February 1879 Launceston Tasmania the son of Alfred Benjamin and Sarah Ann Wilson (nee Hunt).

Studio portrait of 3644 Private (Pte) Bernard Francis Wilson, 24th Battalion, of Flinders, Vic. Pte Wilson enlisted on 12 August 1915 and embarked aboard HMAT Afric on 5 January 1916. On 19 July 1916 he was reported missing in action at Fleurbaix in France during the Battle of Fromelles. Pte Wilson was later reported to have been killed by a prematurely exploding shell on 23 July.
