Wong Richard Wesley
Born 1887 Ringarooma Tasmania the son of the Rev Bartholomew and Emma Jane Wong (nee Richards) a 27 year old blacksmith who enlisted in Victoria and embarked 22nd August 1916 on board “HMAT Wiltshire” with the 17th Infantry Battalion.
His brother William also tried to enlist but was rejected because he was not was "not substantially of European origin".
He was killed in action 2nd March 1917 in France when hit by a shell and is commemorated in the Warlencourt British Cemetery, Warlencourt-Eaucourt, Arras, Nord Pas de Calais, France.
