Woodleigh Charles Arthur

 

Private Charles Arthur Woodleigh

 

 

Born West Hobart Tasmania the son of Enos and Annie Woodleigh a labourer he (after receiving permission from his parents) embarked Melbourne 16th October 1915 on board “HMAT Port Lincoln” with the 12th Infantry Battalion.

 

He had served with the 14th Field Company Engineers and for three months was apprenticed to Scarr Tinsmith Hobart Tasmania.

 

He was serving with the 52nd Battalion when he was killed in action 3rd September 1916 in France and like others with no known grave is commemorated on the  Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, Picardie, France.
