Woods, Augustus Henry

 

 

 

Born Johannesburg South Africa the son of Mary Woods a labourer he embarked Brisbane 5th October 1915 on board “HMAT Warilda” with the 26th Infantry Battalion. 

He served for over 12 months with the Imperial Light Horse in South Africa. 

He returned to Australia 12th May 1917 suffering from tuberculosis and

died 13th November 1918 Hobart Tasmania and was buried in St Johns Cemetery, New Town, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. 

There is also a plaque in the Garden of Remembrance, Hobart, Tasmania
