If you could spare a few dollars to help with the running costs of hosting this website to keep it alive would be very much appreciated.

Thankyou from Gravesites of Tasmania in advance.

Woods, Leslie

He was born Baker’s Creek Huon Tasmania, a labourer who departed Melbourne 30th September 1916 on board “HMAT Palermo” with the 12th Infantry Battalion.

He was killed in action 18th February 1917 and is commemorated in the Warlencourt British Cemetery, France.

Sorrow was expressed in the Bakers Creek district Huon recently when the Reverend Mr Goldsworthy conveyed to Mrs W Woods the tidings of the death of her son Leslie who was killed in France after only a few hours in action.  The father of the brave young soldier and a brother are also in France.  Leslie Woods was a stirling young man, devoted to his parents a good sport and deservedly popular with all who knew him.  They sympathy of residents is with the family in their bereavement.
