Woolcock, Bertie Francis

Born 4th August 1895 Waratah Tasmania the son of Richard and Edith Ann Woolcock (nee Locke) a telegraphist he embarked Hobart 1st July 1916 on board “HMAT Berrima” with the 40th Infantry Battalion.

He died 29th August 1916 from illness in the United Kingdom and was buried in the Plymouth (Efford) Cemetery, United Kingdom.

Sincere sympathy is felt with Mr. and Mrs. R. Woolcock in their bereavement caused by the death of their son 'Bert' in hospital in England. The deceased soldier spent his boyhood's days at Waratah and after leaving school entered the local Post Office. Always bright and intelligent he speedily earned promotion, and was absent from Waratah some years previous to enlisting. General regret was expressed on all sides when news of his untimely end was published.
