Woolley, Gordon Samuel

 

Born 1892 Launceston Tasmania the son of Samuel James and Annie Elizabeth Woolley (nee Saggers) a dairyman he embarked Sydney 19th August 1914 on board “HMAT Berrima” with the 12th Infantry Battalion.

 

Served in the Derwent Infantry Hobart and a member of the New Guinea Expedition 1914

 

He was serving with the 26th Infantry Battalion when he was killed in action 5th August 1916 at Pozieres and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, Picardie, France
