Wright, George Simon

 

 

Born 15th April 1895 Richmond Tasmania the son of Simon Joseph and Edith Jane Wright (nee MacMichael) a farm labourer he embarked Sydney 14th June 1917 on board “HMAT Hororata” with the 12th Infantry Battalion.

 

He was serving with the 40th Battalion when he was killed in action 28th March 1917 when he was hit by shell fragments.  He is commemorated in the Heilly Station Cemetery, Mericourt-L'Abbe, Peronne, France.
