Yates, Alexander John
Born 1895 Ringarooma Tasmania the son of Alexander and Alice Yates (nee Cowie) a miner he embarked Hobart 20th October 1914 on board “HMAT Geelong” with the 12th Infantry Battalion. He was promoted to Lance Corporal 14th April 1916 and then to Sergeant on the 15th March 1918. He was killed in action 6th April 1918 in France and is commemorated in the Bavelincourt Communal Cemetery, France.
