Yates, Alexander John

Born 1895 Ringarooma Tasmania the son of Alexander and Alice Yates (nee Cowie) a miner he embarked Hobart 20^th October 1914 on board “HMAT Geelong” with the 12^th Infantry Battalion. He was promoted to Lance Corporal 14^th April 1916 and then to Sergeant on the 15^th March 1918.

He was killed in action 6^th April 1918 in France and is commemorated in the Bavelincourt Communal Cemetery, France.
