Born Launceston Tasmania to Leslie George and Isabel Kirkwood Hogarth Bain, Flt Sgt Bain was a motor mechanic when he enlisted in the RAAF.

Was a member of the crew of Wellington III HZ146 'B' which crashed in flames on the 19^th April 1943 perhaps lost to flak but claimed by Oblt Stefen Machat of II/NJG2.

Flt Sgt Leslie Bain is commemorated on the El Alamein Memorial.
