World War 11 Casualties

If you could spare a few dollars to help with the running costs of this website would be very much appreciated.

Thank you from Gravesites of Tasmania.

Brown, Geoffrey Albert

Was the Captain of Lancaster LM636 which was part of 467 squadron that left RAF Waddington 24 Sep 1944 to attack enemy points at Calais.

Nothing was heard from the aircraft after takeoff and it did not return to base.

Apparently the squadron took off in dreadful weather and even though there was a recall to base some aircraft did not hear it and proceeded.  On the night flak was accurate and this accounted for the loss.

The Mercury 30 Sep 1944

Mr A. E. Brown, 24 Como Cres Launceston yesterday received advice that his son Acting F-Officer Geoffrey Albert Brown, is missing as a result of air operations on Monday. He was a member of the crew of a Lancaster aircraft.
