World War 11 Casualties

If you could spare a few dollars to help with the running costs of this website would be very much appreciated.

Thank you from Gravesites of Tasmania.

Brown, John Henry

Born Kalgoorlie WA was married living and working as a machine liner at Williamsford Tasmania when he enlisted in the RAAF.

He was serving with 463 Squadron when Lancaster LL881 took off from RAAF Waddington on the 10th May 1944 to bomb the marshalling yards at Lille France. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take off and it did not return to base.

It was later established that the aircraft exploded mid air and all seven of the crew were killed.

Flt Sgt Brown is buried in the communal cemetery at Hellemmes-Lille, a town to the east of Lille.
