early August 1942, the cruiser participated in Operation "Watchtower", the
invasion of
Guadalcanal
and Tulagi in the southern Royce was presumed dead 9th August 1942. It must have been a trying time for the family as a brother Maxwell Athol Burk who was a Stoker on H.M.A.S. Perth was captured when his ship sank and was a prisoner of war in
