World War 11 Casualties
Cameron, Peter Talmage Born 17 Feb 1921 Ulverstone Tasmania to Peter Talmage and Beatrice Cameron (nee Savage) Flt Sgt Cameron was living and working as a Clerk in Burnie when he enlisted in the RAAF. He was the bomb aimer on Lancaster ND754 which set out on the night of the 21st May 1944 for a raid on Duisberg. The aircraft failed to return to base. It was later confirmed by the International Red Cross that it had been shot down by flak and had crashed at 1.15 on the 22nd May at Duisberg-Beckerswerth. Only one of the eight crew members survived and was taken prisoner. Flt Sgt Cameron is buried along with the other crew members in the Reischswald Forest Military Cemetery
