Chilcott, Douglas Leonard

CHILCOTT.-On January 27, 1945, TX14609 Pte. Douglas Leonard (A.I.F.), drowned in action in New Guinea: dearly beloved eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Chilcott, North Motton, loving brother of Charles, Stella and Freda (Dec.), and loved grandson of Mrs. A. Tongs, Ulverstone. Aged 22 years 6 months. Deeply mourned.

Advice bas been received that Pte.
Douglas L. Chilcott, son of Mr and
Mrs. L.D Chilcott, North Motton,
previously reported missing, is now of
ficially reported drowned in action in
New Guinea on January 27 Inst,
Pte. Chilcott, who had three years'
sorvice, was a member of tho 2/3 Aust
Inf. Bu. Ho was 22.years) ¡md six
months' old and was educated at the
North Motton State School and Dev
onport High School. Prior to enlist
ment, ho was a .junior teacher in the
Education Department. His cheery dis
position won for him tho esteem of his
comrades.
Many expressions of sympathy have
been received by his parents, and on
Tuesday tho Union Jack was flown at
half-mast at Ulverstone in memory of
the deceased soldier.
