Clayton, Horace Clifton

 

Born 1 July 1911 to Joseph Thomas and Catherine Ann Clayton (nee Hardy) Sergeant (Sgt) Horace Clifton Clayton, 2/12 Battalion, of Dover, Tas. An orchardist in civilian life, Sgt Clayton enlisted on 10 November 1939. On 25 January 1943 he died of wounds in Papua, aged 31.

He is buried in the Bomana War Cemetery

CLAYTON.-TX622 Corporal Horace Clifton (returned), of Dover, Tasmania, died of wounds, New Guinea, beloved brother and brother-in-law of Amy and Jim Eastman, and loved uncle of John (A.I.F., abroad), Leonard (RA.N.), Florence (Mrs. Proven), and Cohn (R.A.N.).
