Born Launceston Tasmania to David and Olive Maud Coates he was serving on H.M.A.S Echuca when he was lost overboard and presumed drowned.

Mr and Mrs D. Coates Launceston, have been notified that their second son AB Ronald George Coates, has been lost at sea.
