World War 11 Casualties
Cosgrove, John Percival
Born 11th May 1916 Vernon Street Launceston Tasmania to Francis Alfred and Ida Emma Cosgrove (nee Garrett), John Percival Cosgrove was married and employed by Paton and Baldwin, Launceston. Sgt J.P. Cosgrove was air gunner on Wellington Z 1290 when it took off from RAF Breighton on 28th April 1942 on a mission to attack Kiel Germany. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take off and it did not return to base. It was later established that the aircraft was shot down by a German fighter and exploded in mid air. All six on board were killed.
