THE AIR 1939-1945 with the kind permission of Brian Winspear Brother of Doug Cotton, well
known grazier at “Kelvedon” south of He was a Pilot Officer,
flying Hurricanes and Whirlwinds in No. 263 Squadron R.A.F.
In June 1943, 4 Whirlwind bombers and 16 Spitfires attacked 4
minesweepers near He was awarded the DFC
posthumously on 5/07/43 for his determination in pressing attacks, and for
flying his seriously damaged aircraft back and landing safely on three
