Davies Alfred Angus

 

rnBorn 23rd May 1922 Gladstone Tasmania to Angus Alfred and Winifred Kathleen Davies he enlisted in Launceston 9th May 1939 and was a signalman on board HMAS Perth when she was sunk in the battle of Sunda Strait.   

   He survived the sinking but was taken as a prisoner of war to Thailand where he died of Dysentery 5th August 1943 at Retpu Camp which was about 30 km from the Burma border. 

   He is commemorated at the Thanbyuzayat War Cemetery.
