World War 11 Casualties

If you could spare a few dollars to help with the running costs of this website would be very much appreciated.

Thank you from Gravesites of Tasmania.

Dean David Erskine Ellis

Flt Sgt Dean was the mid upper gunner on Lancaster W4946 which took off on the night of 27 July 1943 to bomb Hamburg Germany.  Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take off and it did not return to base.

Following enquiries after the war it is believed the aircraft was shot down and crashed into the sea.

There were no survivors.

Flt Sgt Dean is one of three crew members still missing and their names are commemorated on the Memorial to the Missing Runnymede Surrey England.
