Dean Louis Charles

Born 1921 Hobart Tasmania the son of Thomas Edward and Alice Sarah Dean (nee Huxley)

He was a prisoner of war and was taken on board the “Tamahoko Maru” which was transporting POW’s to work in the factories in Japan when, close to Japan, she exploded after being torpedoed by the US submarine USS Tang. Of the 267 Australian POW’s on board only 72 survived.
