Elphinstone Sydney Claude
Born 24th Aug 1918 Mount St. Burnie the son of Basil Anderson and Ethel May Elphinstone (nee Bramich) of Natone Tasmania
The Mercury Hobart 1 May 1941 Mr and Mrs Basil Elphinstone of Natone (near Burnie) were advised yesterday that their eldest son Pte Sidney Claude Elphinstone aged 22 years had been killed in action. Pte. Elphinstone resided at Natone until the time of his enlistment early in March, 1940. He was among the Australians who landed in Scotland last June and was afterwards transferred to the Middle East. He was a keen farmer. He was associated with the Natone football, cricket, and badminton teams He is commemorated at the Wivenhoe General Cemetery and the Tobruk War Cemetery.
