Fletcher Hugh Ronald George
Born 18 May 1911West Hobart Tasmania to Ronald Tasman and Annie Fletcher (nee Craig) he was married with 3 small children when he enlisted. He was with Sparrow Force and captured after the fall of Singapore. He was on board the “Tamahoko Maru” which was part of a convoy on its way to Japan. One of the ships in the convoy was torpedoed by the US submarine USS Tang and the “Tamahoko Maru” which was closest was almost blown apart. Of the 267 Australians on board only 72 survived.
