World War 11 Casualties
Foley Max James Flt Sgt Foley was the air gunner on Wellington Z 1483 which took off from RAAF Breighton on the night of the 26th July 1942 to attack Hamburg Germany. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take off and it did not return to base. After the war it was established that the aircraft was hit by ack ack fire over the town of Uthlede. The aircraft fell into a field and exploded on impact. All five of the crew including Flt Sgt Foley were killed in this incident.
