French Colin Campbell

 

Colin was born 21st March 1920 at Scottsdale Tasmania the 3rd and youngest son of Allen and Ethel May Caroline French. He attended Hobart High School and was later employed as a Clerk. 

He arrived in Canberra prior to the War and played Australian Rules with the Acton Club

He enlisted on the 22nd April 1940 and after training was sent to Port Moresby.  In 1943 he joined the AIF and served with the 2/3 Battalion which was sent to Aitape in New Guinea in December 1944. 

He was killed in action in this area on 26 Feb 1945 

FRENCH.-Colin Campbell, third and youngest son of Allan and Ethel French, Scottsdale, beloved brother of Douglas (AIF), Stan (killed in action. Tobruk, 1941), and Nancy (Scottsdale). Killed in action in New Guinea, February. 26, aged 24 years.
