Gifford Stanley Houghton
Born 18 Jan 1916 Pirie St New Town Tasmania to Vernon Stanley and Olive Giffard (nee Bucirde) Lt Gifford was married and working as a bank clerk when he enlisted in the RAN Lt Gifford received mention in despatches for his skill against enemy submarines He was born in Hobart and was a bank clerk He was appointed to the RANVR in July 1940 and promoted to lieutenant a year later.
