P-Officer James Geoffrey Johnson youngest son of Mr and Mrs A Johnson Burnie, has died as the result of an aircraft accident near Lagens (Azores) on Dec. 4.

 P Officer Johnson was born at Zeehan in 1923 and was educated at Burnie In 1939 he became a member of the staff of the Bank of Australasia Burnie, and in 1941 enlisted in the RAAF. He was the youngest qualified observer who left Canada under the Empire training scheme, and on reaching England was attached to Coastal Command.
