Born 20 Feb 1911 at 24 Canning Street Launceston to Walter James MacMichael and Alice Matilda Batchelor, Walter John MacMichael was a bank teller prior to enlisting in December 1940

Sergeant (Sgt) Walter John Macmichael, Observer, of No. 14 Squadron RAF was killed 20 March 1942on operations in the Middle East when the Blenheim aircraft in which he was a crew member, crashed during take off. He was 31 years of age.

MACMICHAEL-On March 20. 1912. as a result of injuries in air operations in the Middle East, Sergt-Observer Walter John Macmichael, Royal Air Force, beloved husband of Eileen and father of Anthony, of Eindhover, 9 Swanston Street, New Town.
