Marshall Lyall Elvin

 

 

Born 1st. March 1919 to Benjamin William Marshall and Elizabeth Ann Marshall (nee Eastley) of Riana Tasmania .  

Lyall was Stoker 2nd Class on H.M.A.S Perth and was presumed dead after the ship was struck by four torpedoes and sunk off Bantam Bay at 0025 with the loss of 352 crew, including Captain H. M. L. Waller. (Another 111 died as POWs.)  

The ship's remains were discovered by Australian diver David Burchall in 1967.
