McDermott Robert James

 

Missing F-0 Now Presumed Dead

F-Officcer Robert James McDermott, who is now presumed dead, was reported missing in a meteorological flight over Norway on Feb 7, 1945

He was educated at the Princes St. State School and Technical School, and was on the clerical staff of the Hydro Electric Commission at Hobart at the time of his enlistment. He was a keen musician, and had attended the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. Prior to his death he was attending the Trinity College of Music in London, and had been accepted as a student for Oxford University. He was a member of the Masonic Order.

He was single, and a son of Mr and Mrs J. J. McDermott, Proctors Rd., Hobart.
