Meagher William Redmond

 

 

DIED OF WOUNDS

Mrs. A. Meagher, Lillimur Road. Ormond, Victoria, has been notified by cable, from England that her second son William Redmond Meagher (Royal Fusiliers), died of wounds on August 17, and was buried al Hull. Mr. Meagher was born at Zeehan, and was educated at the Convent School, and at St. Virgil's College. Hobart. He left Melbourne early in 1939 visiting China, India, Italy, France, England and Eire, where he lived for a time during which he became a corporal in the Army of Eire. After unsuccessfully attempting to join the Australian Forces abroad, he joined the Royal Fusiliers. He was a son of the late Mr. W. F. Meagher, and brother of the late Mr. D. F. Meagher, both well known Tasmanian and mainland journalists.
