Nicolson Donald Tofft

 

 

 

Liberator KH210 of 355 Sqdn RAF left Sanbani on the 2nd May 1945 to bomb gun emplacements at Rangoon Burma.  A message giving their position was received and it was assumed it was returning to base with engine trouble but it failed to arrive.  A search plane later sighted wreckage and found two crew members clinging to the wreck 

Flt Sgt Nicolson who was the Wireless Operator on board lost his life in this incident.  His body was not recovered.

NICOLSON.-Believed to have lost his life during air operations on May 2,1945, Aus. 428122 Flt-Sgt Donald Tofft Nicolson (RAF), South East Asia Air Forces, loved second son of Mr and Mrs J. R. Nicolson, Truelands, Campbell Town, aged 25 years
