Oliver Herbert John

 

 

Born 23 Feb 1912 Latrobe Tasmania to William Richard and Marjorie Ellen Oliver (nee O’Boyle).  He was on board the “Tamahoko Maru” which was transporting POW’s to Japan.  It was sunk close to Japan with the loss of 560 POW’s.

Mrs J. Fidler, of Railton, s been advised that her son., Pte H J. Oliver, formerly reported as a prisoner of war is believed to have lost his life. Pte Oliver enlisted early in l940 and served in Syria before he was captured with his brother Pte R. R Oliver in Java.
