Phillips Frank Gale

 

Born 26th April 1911 36 Racecourse Crescent Launceston to Henry Gale and Lilian Estelle Phillips (nee Johnston).. 

Flt Sgt Phillips was the pilot of Lancaster W4332 which took off from RAF Binbrook on the 16th June 1943 to attack Cologne Germany. 

Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take off and it did not return to base. 

After the war it was established that the aircraft was attacked by a night fighter and had crashed at sea. 

All seven on board including Flt Sgt Phillips were killed.
