World War 11 Casualties
Richards Geoffrey William Born 6th October 1915 Launceston Tasmania to Ernest Edward and Rose Hannah Richards (nee Jones), he was a private with the 2/40th Battalion. He was a prisoner of war and and one of 506 POW’s to die after the sinking of the Japanese transport ship “Tamahoko Maru”. RICHARDS.-On June 24, 1944, whilst prisoner of war, Geoffrey William Richards, loved younger son of Mrs and the late Mr E. E. Richards, of Rexton, 1 Talbot Rd., Launceston.
