Born 15th Oct 15 Lismore New South Wales but was living at Wilmot Tasmania when he enlisted and was posted to the 2/40th Battalion. 

He died 21st Feb 1942 from injuries received in Timor and is commemorated in the Galala War Cemetery.

RICHARDS - In loving memory of our dear son and brother, Pte. Leslie John Richards, died of wounds, Timor, February 21, 1942. Also in fond memory of his pal, Pte. Gordon Knowles, killed in action, Timor, February 21, 1942.Ever Remembered.
