Richardson Russell Vernon
Russel Vernon Richardson was born 4 Jan 1925 Carlton Victoria the son of Eric Albert and Dorothie Anne Richardson of Launceston Tasmania. He joined the RAAF in Hobart Tasmania Fl/Sgt Russel Vernon Richardson was on board Lancaster LM677 on 4 Mar 1945 on a night mission to bomb the Dortmund Ems Canal at Ladbergen Germany when the aircraft was shot down near the village of Havixbeck Landkreis Coesfeld, Nord Rhein Westphalia in the vicinity of Munster. Flt Sgt Richardson was one of 5 killed in the crash. Also on board was Flt Sgt Clyde McCartney Cahill of Oakwood Tasmania who was also killed.
