CRASH
Three Killed
at Cressy
An officer and two airmen were killed yesterday when two trainer
aircraft from the elementary flying training school at Western
Junction collided during a practice flight and crashed about a
mile from Cressy.
This was announced in an R.A.A.F. communique. The victims
were:

Edgar
Scascighini
(28) married, of Surrey Hills, Victoria.
Leading - Aircraftman Frank Louis Hurley (28) unmarried, of
Armidale, N.S.W.
Sgt.-Pilot Raymond Harry Dean (21), unmarried of Evandale,
Tasmania.
Sgt. John Henry, who parachuted to safety, was slightly injured.
Both machines were totally destroyed. The cause of the accident
is obscure.
Sgt.-Pilot Raymond Harry Dean, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Reginald J.
Dean, of Evandale, was born in Hobart, and was 21 years old last
Sunday. He was educated at the Launceston High School, and went
through his R.A.A.F. training at Pt.
Cook and Camden. He returned to
Western Junction flying school as an instructor last June. A
brother Geoffrey also a member of the R.A.A.F. was drowned about
a year ago with three companions while sailing near Pt. Cook.
Flying-Officer
Scascighini
was born at Traralgon, Victoria. He was commissioned in
November, 1940. He has a wife and small daughter.
Leading-Aircraftman Hurley was born at Macksville, N.S.W., and
before his enlistment in Sydney was a bank clerk. He received
his elementary flying training at Western Junction.
