Studio portrait of TX5898 Private (Pte) Cyril Scott of Devonport, Tas. Enlisting in the Second AIF in October 1941, Pte Scott served in the Pacific campaign with the 2/40th Battalion. Pte Scott formed part of 'Sparrow Force' which defended Penfui Airfield in Dutch West Timor, where he was wounded and taken prisoner of war by Japanese forces on 23 February 1942. He died of wounds in captivity in Timor on 1 March 1942, aged 36.
