Sharman Ivan Stanley
Born 23 June 1918 Smithton Tasmania to Isaiah and Harriet Sharman (nee Wigg) Able Seaman Sharman was living and working at Marrawah Tasmania when he enlisted in the RAN. He was a crew member of H.M.A.S. Australia which on the afternoon of the 5th January 1945 was hit by kamikazes as they targeted the ship time and time again. The results were devastating – 25 killed and 30 seriously injured. Able Seaman Sharman was listed as lost the next day.
