Another member of the 2/3 M.G Bn who was captured by the Japanese, sent to Hintok, and lost their life while working on the Burma Thailand Railway. Weary Dunlop noted in his diaries “18th July 1943 Also before I turned in after midnight, Corporal J.H.Smith died of cholera”
