Sowter Noel Wilson

 

 

Born 19 December 1919 at Scottsdale Tasmania the son of Edward William and Gertrude Sowter (nee Kime) Noel was a telephone linesman living at Battery Point Tasmania before enlisting in the RAAF.

TASMANIANS DEATH IN R.A.A.F. Crash

MELBOURNE. Monday. - Two R.A.A.F. men attached to a service flying training school in New South Wales were killed on Saturday when a single-engine monoplane inwhich they were flying crashed in  the hilly country south of Benalla  (V.)

They were L.A.C. James Walter Masters, pilot (20). unmarried, of Glenelg (S.A.)., and Sgt. Noel Wilson Sowter, air observer (22). unmarried, of Scottsdale (T.). Primary cause of the accident has not been determined.

Sgt. Sowter was born at Scottsdale. Before enlistment at Hobart in April, 1941, he was a trainee lines-man in the Postmaster-General's , Department.

He was the youngest son of Mr.and Mrs. E. W. Sowter, of Scotts dale, and was educated at the Scottsdale High School. He was a tennis, skating, golf, and swimming enthusiast. One brother is serving overseas, and two others are in camp at Brighton.
